REVIEW
The premise of this film isn't really anything original but it's a great watch nonetheless.

Katherine Heigl is fantastic as Jane. Everything from delivering the dialogue to her body language and facial expressions are finely representative of the character. Ed Burns (perhaps my favorite actor of all-time) has a relatively small role but, of course, he completely nails it. In fact, the only disappointment here for me is James Marsden as Kevin.

It's actually quite amazing how this movie can be so entertaining despite the fact that it only barely touches on a much deeper theme. It's quite obvious that Jane has a caretaker complex which she developed at a very young age when her mother died prematurely. Taking care of her father and younger sister is a role that translates, for her, to taking care of her friends and her boss whom she develops a crush on as an adult. This isn't thoroughly explored, however, but only touched on in a few scenes with Kevin and Tess.

There are some genuine funny moments to be sure and Heigl's is very charming.

There is no shortage of dramatics. Kevin is introduced into the Jane's situation because he is interested in her interest in weddings and he writes an article about the perpetual bridesmaid for his newspaper that embarrasses her. You'll want to see him hit by a bus... ahem.

One of the best scenes is at the engagement party where Jane gets brutally honest on her sister.

RECOMMENDATION
Anyone is isn't too jaded to watch a romantic comedy without preconceptions should watch this film. It's amazing how easy it is to relate to the characters when looked at for their interaction with each other.

If your a cynical "I hate nuances" type of individual who takes in films only to tear them down because your unhappy and have a desperate need to expose everyone and everything else as emotionally fraudulent then stay away!
